Week 2 Story: The First Car

Ragnar was at the beginning of life at the young age of sixteen, he was the youngest child in a family of five. Him and his brothers, Ivar and Hitsvek, where all born as triplets, which is exceedingly rare. The day after their sixteenth birthdays their parents asked what car they wanted as their first. Ivar said he wanted a Corvette C8, and Hitvek said he wanted a Lamborghini Aventador. When the question came to him he said I just want a Mazda 3, a simple car that is cheap and gets me from point A to point B. The parents were shocked at every answer, but nonetheless they said they will try to satisfy everyone's wishes.

The parents went down to Dallas Texas, a land where the cars are cheap, to scour the market. When they arrived they saw the prices of the vehicles requested and asked how could someone afford these expensive cars. Nonetheless, they bought the Lamborghini and Corvette even though they couldn't afford it to make their kids happy. Then they sought out a Mazda 3 as requested from Ragnar, but there were none that they could afford anymore after the recent purchases. The mother happened across a dealership with a silver Mazda 3 that said take me I am free. The keys and a blank title for the car were in the seat ready for someone to drive away. The mother quickly grabbed the keys and made toward the exit in the car before being stopped by the devil disguised as a salesman. He laughed and said you may keep the car but your son must come live and work at the dealership. The parents, sad that they had fallen for this trap, reluctantly agreed and made there way home.

The Parents arrived home with all the cars and gave them to each son. They broke the news to Ragnar that he was now property of the car dealership and gave him the keys to his Mazda 3 and sent on his way. The devil now dressed up as the owner of the dealership complete with a top hat and fake mustache told Ragnar that he must wash every car once a week. Weeks of monotonous washing went by when suddenly a thick fog came over the dealership. When it dissipated, a flying spaghetti monster had appeared along with a Bugatti Chiron that was parked in place of the Mazda. He thanked Ragnar for removing the curse that had befallen the dealership and gave him the keys to the exquisite car. Later Ragnar died in a highspeed collision on the German Autobahn after he lost control of the Bugatti.

This story is loosely based on The Three Roses from The Key of Gold by Josef Baudis. I have maintained pretty much the same plot line as the original story. The things I changed are the setting, character names, and I added in some silly characters that take the place of the Basilisk and youth that show up after the curse is lifted. The Gold key that the basilisk gives to the girl is now the key to Bugatti and ownership of the dealership

  1. Hi Nicholas! I think it is very cool that you modified the Beauty and the Basilisk because I did the same for my story! I like this version of the story with the cars instead of the roses; it makes it more modern. I am curious to see how you would expand on this story (if you even would). How did Ragnar end up in Germany? How did his family react when he was no longer property of the Devil? I think you have a really great start to this story!

  2. Hey DKNK!

I really loved how you changed the story keeping the plot pretty close to the same. Using cars in place of roses made the story feel a lot more modern! It was definitely sad that the youngest son, who asked for the cheapest car, was the one who had to be imprisoned at the dealership. However, I think it was a great addition to the story. Your creativity at the end was also very much appreciated!
