Time Strategies

Image
I have always struggled with time management as I am a serial procrastinator. When it comes to writing papers, stories, etc. this always comes back to bite me as I have a difficult time writing under timed pressure. I will hopefully take this class as a growth opportunity to a better adult and not procrastinate. I found it interesting in the article that they stated looking ahead to the future is one of the most important things you can do to combat procrastination and be better at time management. Looking to the future to know why you are doing something is an important motivator for tedious and uninteresting things you have to do. I am so close to graduating it feels unreal, I only have five classes left. I just need to push through this last semester with everything I have. After five years, college feels like a drag and not worth it, other people have skipped college and already started "the grind" to be just a successful as college graduates. I just hope at the end of t

Technology

Image
All of this technology I am pretty familiar with as I and my generation have grown up around computers our whole life. I already use bookmark folders which is incredibly useful to keep things organized which is a must for me. I use Chrome over any other browser because it has the best UI. I have not installed a word counter but I will just use some web service every time. I honestly don't know how a person would live without spellcheck, it is one of the most useful inventions for the internet. Armature Artist Rendering of Baby Yoda Behance

Assignments

Image
I am most interested in the story telling assignments of this class, unlike most class assignments that are monotonous and brainless work these retelling of stories that I will read throughout the semester gives me the freedom and ability to be me. I can thread together the story with scenes and characters that I identify with. This gives these assignments a distinctive ability to promote individuality that many other classes try to compress.      An extra credit opportunity that interested me was the Wikipedia trails. Usually in academia Wikipedia is a black sheep not to be touched as for some reason it "has the mark of the beast" even though almost all the information on there is cited from legitimate sources that are better than scouring across the internet. I also think that the Microfictions could be pretty interesting. Model of a GTR GT3 Race Car Wikipedia

Growth Mindset

Image
I have never heard of Carol Dweck or the Growth Mindset she talks about. I personally disagree with her thoughts that when things are easy you don't learn as much and you probably already knew the topic already. While this could certainly be true with strictly knowledge based facts or the like, but with skills you are continually refining them throughout your entire life. Say you start wood working, in the first year you would learn a lot through the many hardships you will endure. But forty years down the road, woodworking has become easy as you have become a "Master". This doesn't mean you just magically stop learning new practices, improving skills, or seeking to better yourself in the field. Sure you could stagnate after awhile when things get easy, but at that point it comes down to a personal level that you have the drive and passion to continue to hone your trade, skill, or knowledge.     I have found that the things I dislike or have a hard time with I actual

Introduction to DK, Drift King

Image
My name throughout this semester will be DKNK, it stands for Drift King in reference to Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift and the NK is my initials. I am a senior in the MIS program at Oklahoma University, and will graduate in Spring 2021 after a hard fought journey of five years in college. I am super excited to graduate in order to pursue my hobbies more freely. My Favorite hobbies are cars, computers, and video games.       I have a huge passion for cars and car cultures from around the world. My favorite car scenes are lowriders, bagged or hydraulics, and Japans' car scene. Japans' car scene is probably the most unique car scene in the world, the love to light up their cars with LEDs along with crazy paint and other various mods. I also have taken up a love for classic cars, my favorite design area is the late fifties and sixties. My first car purchase out of college will hopefully be a sixty two or sixty three Lincoln Continental. As of currently I have a lowered Silver

Storybook Favorites

The Storybook " Alexander the Great, Reborn! " is a retelling of the classical story of Alexander the great battling against the mighty Persians. The Persian army dwarfed that of alexanders, but through tactical brilliance, he was able to succeed in great victory.     I am somewhat familiar with this story as I dabble in expanding my knowledge of ancient history. I actually prefer the time period this comes from, the classical era to the Early Middle Ages, as I continually am amazed by the lives and cultures of Rome, Persia, and many other ancient civilizations.  "Xander" in front of a Phalanx Howard David Johnson Illustrations      The writer of this short story took the classic story of Alexander the Great and recast all the characters thousands of years ahead in a science fiction action story. The main character is renamed Xander, and he sets out to become the ruler of a distant planet. The author does a great job using the basic introduction to catapult y

Favorite Place: Tokyo, Japan

Image
One day I would love to visit Tokyo, to sample their car culture, as I have idolized it since I saw Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. I have learned that most of that movie was not filmed in Japan as you are led to believe. I have come to know true Japanese car culture from a multitude of different medias.
